Theatre is Relatable’s place to meet moving image and sound — one clip at a time — and mark whether it is for you. You land on something you did not search for, react, and go on. What you like and what you dislike is remembered. You can bring a clip you already have, or set something out for others to explore. It is a place for sensing, not for searching.
Why this container matters psychologically
We often do not know what lands with us until we are in it. Searching requires that we can already name what we want — and then we miss what we did not know we needed. A place where something meets you, and where your reaction has room (this is for me, this is not, this was the wrong track), gives taste an outer space. It is psychologically relieving not to have to explain the preference first, and to have a place where “not for me” is not the same as “bad”.
What happens without a container like this
Without a place like this, discovery becomes either more of the same, or an empty search field where you have to know what you are looking for. What you react to disappears in the moment. We lose both the chance to meet something outside the familiar, and a place to hold on to what actually landed.
