Not to address the old marketing adage of "targeting the recipient", but to understand why we might struggle to imagine the mailboxes in the first place.
We know intrinsically that our value won't and can't be appreciated everywhere. The things we help make happen is not important to everyone.
As a result, we know that it takes a certain type of person or culture to be able to appreciate our value.
It's like standing in front of a row of mailboxes, not knowing where our envelopes will be well received.
