Because imaging a welcoming and appreciative recipient helps us create the relevant mental boundaries for safe communication.


If we imagine that we will be putting our envelopes into mailboxes of acceptance, we can allow ourselves to start thinking about what someone with a keen eye for our type of value would be able to appreciate.


And more easily fight the urge to water down our value to make it understandable to the common man.


We can imagine ourselves describing the value to someone who is already in the know, rather than someone who hasn't got a clue what we're on about.


This makes for a much less hostile and much more friendly communication environment.


It's like we can more easily crack open our egg to describe the chicken now that we know that it is held by a safe nest.
