Dialog
Connect observations, insight, and value potential into conversation starters.
Dialog is Relatable’s place to start and continue conversations with particular people — where observations, insight, and value potential become an opener that actually goes out. You write a letter to someone, bring in what might matter to them in particular, and keep the thread when they reply. It is the place where the approach becomes a conversation, not only a thought.
Why this container matters psychologically
Seeing something in a person — an opening, an insight, something that could matter to them — is not the same as saying it. Observations sit unused. Insight stays general. The value we could offer hits “someone” instead of someone in particular. Starting a real conversation is high friction: we postpone, send something thin without what we have seen, or let threads disappear across inboxes.
A place for dialog lets what you have seen become a letter to the person it concerns. It is psychologically relieving to be able to tie what you have observed to the person you are writing to — and to know the conversation has one place to live when the reply comes. The thread gets an outer place, without you having to hold it in your head or scatter it everywhere.
What happens without a container like this
Without a place like this, what you have seen about people rarely becomes an opening. We compensate with generic emails, by postponing the approach, or with conversations that disappear between inboxes. Insight and value potential lose a human place to land, and follow-through becomes thinner than what we already knew.
- Start a dialog with someone — search among people or write an email
- Bring in visual content: links, what you already hold, a signature
- When you write to someone you already have observations about: see the approaching thought and the connections — and pull in what can open the conversation
- Save a draft and come back
- Send — they get it as email, and in Relatable if they have an account
- Continue the thread when they reply
- Mark as resolved when the clarification is done, or open it again
- Filter: drafts, needs you, waiting, resolved
- You have observed something in someone, and want to open the conversation with what actually lands
- You have insight or something of value that could matter to a particular person, and need a way to start
- You want to write to someone outside Relatable without losing the thread
- You have started a clarification and need to continue it
- You want to bring the right pieces into the opening — not a generic message
- A reply has come, and you want to keep the conversation in one place
