Universes
Explore who you want to move toward and how you can approach them.
Universes is Relatable’s place to see who can receive you, and how you can move toward them. Each universe is a table you sit down at: the people who might receive what you care about, the groups they belong to, and what you can share. You can hold the approach here before anything goes out — a thought about how you move toward someone, what might reach them, and the share when you are ready. It is the place where you turn toward particular people, with something you yourself stand in.
Why this container matters psychologically
Having something we care about is not the same as seeing who can receive us. The recipient easily becomes a vague “someone,” and the move toward them stays in the head until it suddenly has to become a send. Then we postpone — or we send without having met them as people first.
A universe gives this a visible field. It is psychologically relieving to sit with possible receivers as people, and to have a place for how you want to move toward them, without the share having to be finished. The approach gets a room to exist in — not only the content you want to send.
What happens without a container like this
Without a place like this, possible receivers remain unnamed, or they live as a list we never sit with. We compensate by postponing, by sending into the void, or by holding the whole approach in our head until it disappears. What we care about never gets a human place to land, and we lose hold of how we can actually move toward them.
- Create a universe for something you want to share onward
- Sit down at the table and see the people, the groups, and what you can share
- Add people who can receive you
- Gather people into groups
- Gather what you want to share
- Hold an approaching thought and an opener for someone — before you share
- See how you can reach them
- Share something with someone when you are ready
- You care about something, but cannot yet see who can receive it
- You want to sit with the people this could be for, before you share
- You know who you want to reach, but not how to move toward them
- You want to hold an opening toward someone without sending anything yet
- You want to gather what you can share and those it can reach, in the same world
- You want to move toward particular people, not send something out into the open
